The Queens Platinum Jubilee

We have had great fun learning about the Queens Platinum Jubilee. We read a non-fiction book about the Queen to find out about her family and learnt about where she lives and her love for corgis. We had an imaginary journey on a train to London, where we took in the sites. The children then took this learning into the areas, where they painted observational pictures of the Queen and her corgis. They explored the London landmarks in our small world area. We also read the very funny story ‘The Queens Knickers’ and sang a funny number song about a crow who stole her knickers off the washing line. We also designed new knickers for her as she’d lost hers. Our learning just kept on going, practising our pincer grip when scrunching paper to create our own Union Jack flags, and cutting out triangles to create our patriot bunting, and finally colouring our own flags for our Jubilee whole school picnic.

And finally, actually meeting HRM the Queen!
